AutoCAD is a versatile computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by Autodesk, primarily used for precise 2D drafting and 3D modeling in architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure. It lets professionals create detailed plans, sections, elevations, schematics, and technical drawings with exact dimensions, layering, annotations, and scaling—making it the backbone of documentation and design communication in many disciplines.
Revit is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) software developed by Autodesk, specifically designed for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) projects. Unlike AutoCAD, which is primarily a drafting tool, Revit focuses on creating intelligent 3D models that contain not just geometry but also data about the building components, enabling better coordination, analysis, and documentation.
Autodesk Civil 3D is a civil engineering design and documentation BIM (Building Information Modeling) software tailored for infrastructure projects—roads, highways, land development, grading, drainage, and utilities. It builds on Autodesk’s CAD foundation but adds civil-specific intelligence: dynamic models that update through design changes, integrated analysis, and tools that reflect real-world engineering workflows.
